HEMBURY HALL: HERITAGE BRANDING DESIGN
Hembury Hall, a stately home in the Kent countryside, faced a problem that lots of heritage brands face with their visual identity - too many chefs stirring the pot. Over the years this had led to a disjointed look - one branding style for day visitors, tours etc. and one entirely different identity for the weddings and events side of the business. The goal of this project, therefore, was to create an joined up and cohesive brand that covered all parts of the business, that felt as considered and enduring as the building itself: classic without being stuffy, characterful but sophisticated.
When you visit the venue, you see sweeping parkland, walled gardens, and stories layered through oak-panelled corridors and faded art. I therefore leaned into traditional typography, gentle textures, and a colour palette inspired by polished oak, old porcelain and summer skies above the Hembury Hall grounds. Every design decision was shaped by the visitor experience - from the first glimpse of the signage to the tone of voice used in tour materials and printed guides. This extended to the sub-brand for Hembury Hall’s burgeoning Weddings & Events arm.
This was a chance to build a brand with a deep sense of history, one that invites people in and encourages slow exploration. The end result is something that feels like it’s always been there - familiar, elegant, and quietly full of life.
